East Fork Cultivars Summary:
At East Fork Cultivars, a resolute commitment to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice underpins their mission. The company strives to develop and preserve sustainable, sun-grown farming methods with the aim of producing high-quality, genetically diverse, CBD-rich cultivars.
East Fork sees itself not just as growers but as educators, cultivators, and community builders. Beyond nurturing their plants, they aim to foster a movement that encourages ideas and cultivates an educated community. Rooted in their dedication to sun-grown cannabis and sustainable farming, they firmly believe that these methods lead to superior holistic experiences. Their philosophy is steeped in environmental and social responsibility, reflected in their farm practices, products, and partnerships.
Founded by Nathan and Aaron Howard, East Fork Cultivars initially had a singular goal: to cultivate high-quality CBD-rich cannabis to alleviate their oldest brother Wesley Howard’s medical condition symptoms. Witnessing the positive impact of CBD-rich cultivars fueled their desire to expand access to CBD and cannabis therapeutics. This mission eventually led them to become stewards of the East Fork Ranch, a picturesque location nestled between Oregon’s Illinois River and California’s Siskiyou Mountains. Their commitment to bettering the community and growing genetically unique cultivars became a source of pride and identity.
The Farm
Situated in the idyllic town of Takilma, East Fork’s farm spans 33 acres within the East Fork of Southwest Oregon’s Illinois River and California’s Siskiyou Wilderness—a prime location for sungrown cannabis cultivation. The farm is dedicated to growing USDA Organic Certified hemp and Sun+Earth Certified adult-use cannabis. East Fork Cultivars maintains a holistic approach to farming, focusing on nurturing the soil, water, air, and surrounding ecology. By combining ancient stewardship practices with modern sustainable agriculture, they strive to make a positive impact on their environment, community, and the consumers who rely on their products.
TERROIR
Terroir, often associated with the wine industry, refers to place-based environmental factors that give a plant distinct characteristics. In East Fork’s case, the native soil of Oregon’s Illinois River Valley, coupled with their unique farming practices and meticulous drying and curing methods, impart distinctive qualities to their cultivars. This unique terroir contributes to the varied smells, tastes, and effects of their cannabis cultivars.
